What is Chardon Tomorrow?
Chardon Tomorrow is a non-profit group of Chardon community members and business leaders who share a common goal: To ensure that Chardon maintains its historical charm while strengthening its appeal as a wonderful place to raise a family, do business, and have fun.
We don’t want to change Chardon. We share a passion for the lifestyle that Chardon offers, and we will preserve that lifestyle. At the same time we want to help Chardon reach its potential as a place to do business, visit, mingle, dine, shop and have fun.
These goals are infused into our mission: Preserving and enhancing the character of Chardon by encouraging investment, fostering a sense of community, and developing partnerships with community stakeholders to create a more vibrant and sustainable quality of life.
The Main Street Approach
Chardon Tomorrow is an affiliate member of Heritage Ohio which administers Ohio’s Main Street program, a comprehensive revitalization organization that promotes historic preservation and economic development of traditional business districts.
The Main Street Program encourages communities to develop their own unique strengths. As a framework for positive change, rather than a roadmap for a result, a Main Street Program is tailored to celebrate local resources and meet local needs.
Today there are 22 Main Street programs in Ohio, and close to 2,000 nationwide. Benefits realized by nearby Main Street communities such as Medina and Painesville include building rehabilitation, new business recruitment, improvements in economic management and much more. Nationwide, it has been implemented in over 2,000 communities with 39 in Ohio, spurring billions of dollars in local investment.
