Sunday Liquor Sales District A, Chardon City
THANK YOU FOR PASSING THIS INITIATIVE!
Chardon Tomorrow, a Nationally Accredited Main Street 501c-3 non-profit organization, applied a petition with the Ohio Department of Commerce to permit Sunday Liquor Sales (D-6) within Ward A, Chardon City. The ballot issue was approved and will appear on the Ward A Chardon City ballot on the November 6th general election.
You can read the ballot language here (issues 15-17 on the last page).
Our goal is simple, and really has very little to do with liquor or liquor consumption. We are looking to grow the local economy and drive even more revenue to ALL of our Chardon businesses. Sunday sales would be an incentive for restaurants on the Square to stay open on Sunday and help drive business to our retailers and community theater an extra day each week. Sunday sales also adds potential jobs and tax revenue. New businesses (both retail and restaurant) are 75% more likely to choose to develop in a community that has existing Sunday sales legislation--keeping our Square vibrant and sustainable for years to come. We believe having a strong, complementary mix of businesses and retailers open every day of the week will spur growth throughout the city of Chardon.
And please note, this ballot issue does not ADD any additional liquor licenses. The issue would allow for existing restaurants and retailers to APPLY to sell wine and spirits on Sunday.
Please feel free to contact our offices with any questions or concerns you might have on this initiative.
